Preamble is a privacy-first app. Except for explicitly requested syncing with Google Calendar and Tasks, your data never leaves your device. We collect nothing — zero tracking, zero analytics, and zero hidden network calls.
Preamble operates fundamentally on your device. We do not collect, sell, steal, or secretly transmit any personal data whatsoever to our own servers. Internet connectivity is only used if you choose to sync your tasks and events directly with your personal Google account.
To provide seamless synchronization, Preamble optionally utilizes Google's official APIs to connect directly with your account. We request the following scopes:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks): Used to read, write, and sync your tasks securely.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar): Used to read, write, and sync your calendar events securely.Strict Privacy Commitment: Data accessed via these Google APIs is processed directly between your device and Google's servers to facilitate synchronization. We do not transmit this data to our own servers, nor do we sell, rent, scrape, or steal any user data. Your information is used securely and transparently only for the app's core features.
All your data is stored locally on your device using Room Database (SQLite). This includes:
We do not maintain any cloud databases or central servers with your information.
Preamble requests the following permissions, all used locally:
Beyond the optional Google API integrations for task and calendar synchronization, Preamble uses no third-party services. This means:
Voice input is processed entirely on your device using Android's built-in SpeechRecognizer. No audio recordings are stored or transmitted. The recognized text is saved as a task title locally.
Since data is stored locally, you remain fully in control. You can delete all app data by:
Preamble does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. There are no age restrictions for using the app.
If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page. Since our data practices are inherently localized and transparent, significant structural changes are unlikely.
